Workshop & Trainings
Two of the key challenges to area livestock owners and boarding facilities are mud and manure. If you are like many livestock properties, by the end of the rainy season, you and your animals are up to your knees in mud, or your property is quite literally washing out from underneath you. In addition, the rising cost of gas is driving the price of manure hauling through the roof. This has led many locals to ask, “What can we do on our property to control the seemingly uncontrollable?
In response to this cry for help, the Livestock and Land Program has created a series of workshops designed to introduce you to practices you can implement on your property to address concerns such as erosion, drainage, mud and manure management. In addition to supporting conservation, installing Best Management Practices (BMPs) at your livestock facility can improve chore efficiency, benefit animal health and facility safety, enhance land aesthetics, improve neighborhood relationships and even increase property value.
By successfully managing these issues, you can drastically improve the health of your property and local natural resources. You may even qualify to become an Implementation Site and receive money to help pay for your upgrades.
